A new report claims that there could be trouble brewing for Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, and it all allegedly stems from a "crush" she supposedly has on Denzel Washington.

A report alleges that Gosling, who is slated to get an Oscar nomination for La La Land, is trying to find a way to keep Mendes from attending the show with him since Washington is also garnering buzz for his work in Fences, and he's afraid of them seeing one another again because they were once close.

"Eva and Denzel were very close when they filmed Training Day in 2001, which included her naked, and Ryan does not want them to be anywhere near each other," a source said. "Ryan should know that it was ancient history. Eva will want to be there, so Ryan's just going to have to deal with it."

However, Gossip Cop has refuted the story, slamming it as not true.

It wouldn't seem like Gosling would be worried about Mendes possibly meeting Washington, even if she did genuinely have a "crush" on him. The pair have been going strong since 2011, and have welcomes two daughters together in the last two years, Esmeralda Amada, 2, and Amada Lee, who was born earlier this year.

It's also notable that the pair are notoriously private and don't often make public appearance together at events. Mendes wasn't present for Gosling's directorial debut Lost River at the Cannes Film Festival two years ago, though she was staying out of the spotlight at the time to keep their first pregnancy under wraps. Similarly, she wasn't there during any of his appearances at award shows earlier this year for his film The Big Short, which also garnered buzz at the Golden Globes and Oscars, and saw him in the same room again as his former girlfriend, Rachel McAdams, who was nominated for her Oscar winning film Spotlight. However, once again, Mendes was covering up a pregnancy, so she could very well be in attendance this year at shows.
