With just a little over a month to go until the highly anticipated return of Showtime's Dexter for its final season, a behind-the-scenes video of its eighth installment has been making waves on the Internet.

The respective footage offers up viewers a sneak peek into the TV series, as it prepares for its final run.

One of the major storylines set to take place will be the internal struggle that Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) faces as she copes with her deadly shooting of Captain La Guerta (Lauren Velez).

On the video clip, Carpenter explained her character's dilemma, and how Dexter (Michael C. Hall) plays into it all.

"Deborah is hitting a low point, searching for her bottom.  I don't think Dexter spends a lot of time thinking about La Guerta's murder. He's confused by Deborah's reaction to it and her inability to move past it," she said.

While a scene of Dex reprimanding his son Harrison plays, Hall explained the complexities that the vigilante serial killer faces, and how he's handling them.

"We find Dexter, on the one hand, telling himself that things are good, but there are a lot of problems and the subterranean stuff is starting to bubble up," he explained.

Showtime's Dexter is set to make its return on Sunday, June 30 at 9/8 p.m. Central.  Be sure to keep checking back for more of the latest details on America's favorite serial killer.
