On January last year, Netflix renewed its political drama web television series, House of Cards, for a fifth season, which fans predicted will premiere in the middle of this year.

This time, recent reports revealed that the network confirmed the premiere of the upcoming season on May. A promo and trailer have been released to show the fans a sneak peek of what they are likely to expect once the series returns for its season 5.

Unsurprisingly, the trailer release was in time for the current political status happening in the USA. According to a report from CNET, this move by Netflix was not an accident because this is one way to engage the old viewers and fans once again, and to attract new viewers to watch the upcoming season of the show.

Additionally, it was also speculated that the new plot for season 5 would very much be alike to US President-elect Donald Trump's victory. In the promo, it revealed that the upcoming season is officially set for a May premiere and the scenario teased was an upside down flag of America while children reciting the Pledge of Allegiance in the background can be heard.

It was also hinted that President Francis 'Frank' Underwood, portrayed by Kevin Spacey and his wife First Lady Claire Underwood, portrayed by Robin Wright, will keep their strong statement left in the previous season finale that they will bring terror this upcoming season.

On a report from Tripped Media, viewers might reportedly expect for the main character to be really parallel to Donald Trump. This is because the character is meant to be remembered by fans and even the scrutiny and criticizing Trump has been receiving, this might also be featured on Kevin Spacey's character.

Aside from these spoilers, it has also been reported that the upcoming season will see some new faces appearing on the series. Actors Scott Campbell and Frank Pugliese, and actresses Patricia Clarkson and Melissa James Gibson will be the new members that will join the cast in the upcoming fifth season.

House of Cards season 5 will premiere on May 30, 2017.
