Danica Patrick was forced into a wreck at Sunday's Coca-Cola 600 race -- and it may all have been her boyfriend's fault.

In a move that could test their budding relationship, Patrick's boyfriend and fellow Sprint Cup rookie driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr., appeared to nudge her during lap 319 of the race. It sent Patrick's No. 10 Chevy careening into another driver, Brad Keselowski, and pushing his car against the outside wall, The Associated Press reported.

Both Patrick and Keselowski's vehicles suffered extensive damage and had to be taken behind to wall for repair. Patrick initially believed unequivocally that it was Stenhouse who started the crash. But after the race, Keselowski absolved Stenhouse and took responsibility for the wreck.

"I was three-wide with Danica and didn't know it and I cut her off and wrecked her and myself," said Keselowski. "I feel bad for her and I send my apologies to her. It's just a long night for the Miller Lite Ford. We'll move on. That's all you can do."

At the time of the crash, Patrick was in 21st place and appeared to be making a push foward. She ended the race in 29th place.

Stenhouse did acknowledge before the race that there was always the potential for he and Patrick to end up in a crash situation on the track, but recognized that it's simply a part of the race.

"Her and I talked about it, and we knew that after we got through Daytona everything would kind of calm back down and people would start talking about the race-track things," said the driver during an interview on Saturday.

"We haven't had any race-track problems, so it's still [calm]," he continued. "You never know. You get to those speedway races -- or even here -- and if something happens, get caught up in somebody else's wreck ..."

Patrick announced  in November 2012 that she was divorcing her husband of seven years, physical therapist Paul Hospenthal. She began dating Stenhouse Jr. since the split.
