A brand new name has recently come up in the casting pool for Anastasia Steele in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' 50 Shades of Grey, and it's none other than Arrow actress Katie Cassidy.

According to Fans Share, the 26-year-old is a strong contender for the lead role of the shy, college grad turned Red Room of Pain participant.

However, the site also suggested that Cassidy would be a solid choice for the part of Kate Cavanagh, who is described as Steele's closest friend and roommate.  In the books, Ana describes Kate a someone who is curvy, vivacious and beautiful.

Other actresses that have come up as of late for the groundbreaking Steele role include but aren't limited to Lindsay Lohan, Alexandra Daddario, and Lyndsy Fonseca.

Screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who is currently working on the movie script, stated that it would be adhering to the context of the erotica with lots of sex and raunchiness.  Producers are shooting for an NC-17 rating, according to a write-up in Style magazine. 

Although the producers have yet to officially attach a director to the franchise, 50 Shades of Grey is slated for its big screen release in summer of 2014. The film will be shot in London.
