CBS' repeat of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation was the highest rated show and the second most-watched on Wednesday night right behind Gordon Ramsey's two-hour MasterChef, which aired from 8p.m. - 10 p.m. on Fox, Deadline reported Thursday.

CSI will return for 2013-2014 in the fall and the show's star Ted Danson (Saving Private Ryan, Bored to Death, Cheers) has signed a contract to stay with the show for two more years.

The writers and creators restructured the show to revolve around Danson's character, DB Russell, and Julie Finlay, portrayed by Elizabeth Shue (Leaving Las Vegas, Hollow Man, Adventures in Babysitting).

Also returning for Season 14 for the drama are David Berman, Robert David Hall,Paul Guilfoyle, Jorja Fox and other cast members.  

Danson had initially signed on for two years and now extended his contract an additional two years. His salary reportedly has been over $200K an episode, according to Deadline.

CSI: Miami ended in May 2012 and CSI: NY was cancelled at the end of the 2012-2013 Season.

CSI is the only series in the franchise running next season.

All 22 episodes of Season 12 of CSI will be released on DVD on July 1.

The Season marks the debut of Russell and lead investigator Finlay who work to tackle the Las Vegas underworld. At the same time, longtime investigator Catherine Willows decides she has had it and leaves the crime lab for good.

CSI was the most watched followed by the second hour of MasterChef, which acquired more viewers in total Wednesday night.

FOX led last night with 5.4 million viewers and CBS was close behind with 5.3 million adults 18-49.

Nominated for five Emmy awards, CSI is the most-watched TV show worldwide with over 84 million viewers.
