Bill Cosby, 79, arrived in court earlier today to begin his sexual assault trial. The acclaimed comedian was charged with sexual assault by former basketball star, Andrea Constand.

Arriving for the trial, Cosby was joined by his former The Cosby Show co-star, Keshia Knight Pulliam, who stood by his side. His current wife, Camille Cosby, was noticeably absent from the proceedings.

Cosby currently is charged with three counts of aggravated indecent assault. If found guilty, he would face between 15 to 30 years in prison.

In a CNN article, the courtroom was said to be packed with civilians in addition to the media. Sometime during the court proceedings, Constand, 44, will be giving her side of the story. In May, Cosby said in an interview that he will not be giving a testimony.

According to Vulture, Constand went to the police after a night that she was allegedly sexually violated by Cosby in 2005. However, the criminal investigation was shut down due to insufficient evidence. Once Cosby was exposed, 13 other women came forward and shared that they had similar experiences with the star. As a result, the case was reopened.

Since then, Constand had the case recently reopened on the grounds that Cosby had broken the nondisclosure agreement when discussing more recent allegations of misconduct.

Graphic details were revealed when the transcript of the original case was opened, which Cosby admitted to giving Constand drugs so that he could have sex with her. The case has gone to trial, which is currently taking place.

Over time, almost 60 women have come forward and accused Cosby of some form of abusive behavior.
