The highly anticipated firefighter spinoff for ABC’s juggernaut series Grey’s Anatomy looks even more promising now that a veteran of the classic series has been inked for a major role.

Jason George is slated to join the cast of the spinoff!, The Hollywood Reporter announced Tuesday. He’ll be joining Jaina Lee Ortiz who has already been announced as the female lead for the show. But no worries Ben Warren fans, it looks like he’ll keep his role on Grey’s Anatomy too. The series is gearing up for the premiere of the 14th season, which George will stay focused on until the production for the new series begins.

As for the spinoff, the title has yet to be announced. What we do know is that it will center around a group of firefighters in Seattle from their professional lives at the station to their personal lives at home.

This move for George definitely makes sense considering he was a major player in the season 13 finale that featured a huge fire for the hospital.

The new series is just one in a successful lineup launched by Shonda Rhimes. It will be the second spinoff for Grey’s Anatomy. Private Practice was the first.

“It was up to Shonda to tell us when she had inspiration for something that made sense, which was pretty recent,” ABC Studios President Patrick Moran said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “We talked about the elements of Grey’s Anatomy that seem to resonate with the audience – emotional storytelling, deep human connection, a high-states environment and strong and empowered women – and those elements will carry over the spinoff.”

Rhimes is set to team up with Betsy Beers, also of Shondaland, and Grey’s Anatomy’s executive producer and co-showrunner Stacy McKee. Paris Barclay has signed on to be the producing director and executive producer.

Rhimes is also the brains behind other shows such as Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder.

Grey’s Anatomy returns to ABC on Sept. 28.
