Harvey Weinstein, Brett Ratner, and Kevin Spacey are just a few of the plethora of Hollywood honchos that have been accused of sexually harassing or abusing men and women, particularly actors and actresses. The allegations began back in September 2017 after an article in the New York Times was published detailing the abuse three women suffered at the hands of Weinstein. Since then, actresses such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, and Rose McGowan have all recounted their experiences with Weinstein and how they were afraid to speak against the Hollywood mogul in fear of jeopardizing their careers. Even the victims of Spacey and Ratner had similar testaments of no one believing their stories and their careers being thrown in the toilet.

Now, Hollywood is fighting back. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Natalie Portman and more are coming together to put an end to the years of harassment endured by its actors and actresses.
The actresses have secretly been meeting with other female elites such as producer Kathleen Kennedy and director Shonda Rhimes, to find a way to combat the ongoing epidemic of sexual harassment in the industry.

In addition to this, The Los Angeles County District Attorney is launching a special task force to investigate the accusations.

"In response to the widespread allegations of sexual abuse in the entertainment industry, I have established a task force of specially trained deputy district attorneys who are ready to evaluate these cases if any are referred to my office for criminal prosecution. I have assigned the group of veteran sex crimes prosecutors to work together to ensure a uniformed approach to the legal review and possible prosecution of any case that meets both the legal and factual standards for criminal prosecution," Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey said in an official statement.

With the District Attorney and powerful women in Hollywood involved, more cases may be settled and the victims may get the justice they deserve.

In addition to Weinstein and Spacey, actors Dustin Hoffman, Ed Westwick, and Charlie Sheen have also been accused of sexual misconduct. Hoffman has issued an apology to the woman who accused him while Westwick and Sheen have both denied the claims. Currently, Spacey is seeking professional treatment.
