With the unexpected death of Matthew Crawley (Dan Stevens) in Season 3 of Downton Abbey, many of its fans are surely wondering how the respective loss will impact Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery) and the show's fourth installment, which is scheduled to come out in 2014.

On June 15, executive producer Gareth Neame recently took the opportunity to dish to TVLine about what's to come for the newly widowed and single mother, Lady Mary's (Michelle Dockery) love life moving forward.

"It's important to say that audiences are not going to want to see Lady Mary get back in the saddle by the first commercial break of the next episode and just find a new guy. People wouldn't want that. People wouldn't want to do that. People were really invested in that relationship," he explained.

However, while Mary will surely be mourning the death of her hubby, it's inevitable that she'll receive her fair share of male interest, as was previously reported.

The Downton producers have already cast two potential love interests for Lady Mary in Tom Cullen and Julian Ovenden. Cullen will come on board the British-American drama to don the role of Lord Gillingham while Ovenden will play Charles Blake.

Downton Abbey is set to premiere its fourth season in the U.S. on Jan. 5, 2014, and it will run until February 23, 2014. Keep checking back for more of the latest details on the popular series. For more Downton dirt on the upcoming season, check out the video below.
