Why Did Scheana Marie Keep Her Married Name After Her Divorce From Mike Shay?

Scheana Marie may have filed for divorce over one year ago, but she's currently still using the last name of her ex-husband, Mike Shay.

According to a new interview, Scheana Marie is perfectly okay with being known as Scheana Shay at this point in time. However, if she ends up getting remarried somewhere down the line, she intends to take the last name of her future husband.

"When and if I get remarried, I would absolutely take my new husband's last name," she told The Daily Dish, according to a report on Dec. 28.

During the premiere episode of Vanderpump Rules season 6, Scheana Marie told the Bravo TV cameras that she and Shay were still married and that once her divorce was finalized, she'd be able to get remarried to her now-ex-boyfriend Robert Parks-Valletta.

As for why she decided to keep her ex-husband's last name, Scheana Marie said she did so because it is simply too much of a hassle to change her name back to Scheana Marie Jancan. As she explained, she would have to visit the social security office, the DMV, and change all of her names on her insurance policies, loans, announts, and other bills. So rather than go back to her maiden name, Scheana Marie decided to remain Scheana Shay up until she's ready to legally change her name to Scheana Valletta — if that ever happens.

Scheana Marie and Parks-Valletta called it quits in October after about nine months of dating. Since then, the Vanderpump Rules star and waitress of SUR Restaurant has continued to speak of their future reunion and possible marriage as they spend time with each other as friends.

"We talk about the future all the time. It's kind of a joke for us now because it's been like 11, 12 years, and we still can't figure it out. It's like, 'Oh, bad timing yet again,'" Scheana Marie explained. "I'm like, this is gonna be one hell of a story for the grandkids. 'Grandma and Grandpa couldn't figure it out for 15 years.'"
