Although Apple failed to announce the release dates of an iPad 5 or an iPad Mini 2 during the Worldwide Developers Conference last week, rumors and speculations are still rampant regarding an impending release.

Many sites such as DigiTimes, believe that the iPad 5 will go into production this summer and be ready for release in the fall. With the release date presumed to be somewhere around October, buyers can look for an iPad Mini 2 at the same time, according to Latin Times.

Two ways in which Apple could make the device lighter involve using GF2 touch screen technology - already in use in iPad Minis - or to utilize a display that uses less power in order to put in a smaller battery, according to International Digital Times.

As for the iPad Mini 2, many believe that it will receive the retina display treatment. According to CNET, the device will have a resolution of 2,048 x 1,536.

In regards to pricing, the International Digital Times states that, in general, new Apple products general take the price of their earlier model. If this is true, iPad 5's would be between $499 and $929 and the iPad Mini 2 would price between $329 and $659.
