Sources have confirmed that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is ending after Season 4 although fans may still likely see the gang again given talks about a movie happening with Universal Television.

The Final Season

It is time to say goodbye to the stranger danger ranger that is Kimmy Schmidt. Insiders confirmed with several news outlets that the series from showrunners Tina Fey (30 Rock) and Robert Carlock (Whiskey Tango Foxtrot) is on its last season ran.

There are 13 episodes left for the final season. The next batch of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt episodes will be split into two parts given that Season 4 is currently still halfway in production. The first six will be available to stream on Netflix on May 30. The remaining seven episodes will air at a later date.

However, fans of the highly positive, cheerful and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt may be in for a treat if the rumors are true that the show will be turned into a movie. Co-creators Fey and Carlock are said to be in discussions with Universal Television and the Internet network over a possible film.

The Movie

Netflix and Uni TV have yet to comment on the show's end and confirm the movie talks. However, if the movie does happen, then it is likely that it will feature the show's original cast. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt stars Ellie Kemper (The Office, 21 Jump Street) as the titular lead, Jane Krakowski (Ally McBeal, 30 Rock) as the affluent Jacqueline Voorhees, and Carol Kane (The Princess Bride) as Lillian. The series also features American Broadway singer and actor Tituss Burgess, who plays the role of Tituss Andromedon.

NBC initially picked up the pilot and gave a 13-episode series order for Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt but later backed down on its decision. Netflix swooped in and save the show. The streamer gave the series a two-season commitment ahead of its premiere. The series debuted on Netflix on March 6, 2015.

There has been no indication of how well the half-hour comedy show is doing in terms of viewership. However, it has since received 16 Primetime Emmy Award nominations including a best series nomination for each of its first three seasons.

The news about the end of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt after Season 4 comes after Netflix released a trailer for the show's first six episodes. The preview shows Kimmy as she makes her way to her first day as a Human Resource Manager at Giztoob.
