There are a million reasons to question why Lady Gaga's 2019 Golden Globes gown is being sold for auction and how it landed in the hands of a hotel maid. Unless it's determined that the dress was stolen.

The Gown

Lady Gaga looked incredibly breathtaking in a Cinderella-inspired periwinkle gown, which was created for the singer and inspired by Judy Garland in the1954 version of "A Star is Born." It features a cascading silk faille and a 10-foot train.

She also had to take it up a notch by dyeing the end of her blonde hair, periwinkle, to match the fabric of the dress.

The popstar paired the look with some bold diamond necklace and matching earrings.

Stolen Gown?

People behind Valentino believes that the gown was stolen and they plan to get authorities involved, according to TMZ.

Apparently, the songstress left the dress behind so the housekeeper brought it to the hotel's lost and found section. However, when no one claimed it, it was returned to the maid -- who is now trying to cash in by auctioning the garment.

The gown is presently up for sale on Nate D. Sanders' site and is going for the minimum bid of $8,000.

It comes with a note from the maid, who claims to have worked at the hotel for 24 years. In the said note, the maid explained how the beautiful gown came into her possession.

Hotel maid, Sara Corea wrote in her letter, published by the Daily Mail, that she turned in the dress to the hotel's lost and found on January 8, 2019. After the time it was legally held by lost and found, they gave it to her as a gift.

A representative from the Beverly Hilton denied that the dress was stolen but confirmed that the gown was never meant to be sold. In a statement to Page Six, hotel reps said that they are still conducting an internal investigation to understand all the facts because they don't believe that the gown was stolen.

"We are working with all parties to retrieve the item and have it returned to its rightful owner as soon as possible."

The 76th Golden Globes Awards was held at the Beverly Hilton in January. After the show, Gaga changed in one of the hotel rooms. Typically, when this happens, a member of a celebrity's team is present to wrap the gown up and ship it back to the designer. Unfortunately, it didn't happen.

Normally, designer dresses are loaned to celebrities for their red carpet and premiers. They're not "gifted", contrary to popular belief.

The "Mother Monster" won the "Best Original Song - Motion Picture" award for "Shallow" at the Golden Globes -- a song she sang with Bradley Cooper for their hit movie, "A Star is Born."

"A Star is Born" collected excellent reviews that it was nominated on top award shows for 2019, including the Academy Awards, Grammys and the Globes.
