Falling Skies fans have a lot to celebrate this week following the shows renewal for a fourth season.

The TNT sci-fi drama is currently in the middle of its third season on the network and viewers can rest assured that the story won't end quite yet.

With five new episodes coming this summer and 10 slated for release next year, the Mason family will have to survive hostile alien forces for just a bit longer, reports Den of Geek.

Two years into the human resistance of the murderous Espheni and their army of Skitters and Mechs, Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) and the (relatively) loyal 2nd Mass have momentarily reestablished themselves in the new capital of Charleston while they walk a dangerous path in their collaboration with the seemingly friendly Volm.

While Mason struggles to raise and protect his growing family, his alien controlled son and part alien baby are proving to make the resistance's fight just that much harder.

However, it is little surprise that the show has already be brought on for another season. With 5.8 million viewers (DVR included), Falling Skies is currently basic cables No. 1 scripted series for adults 18-49 and 25-54, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

If the show can keep its numbers that high and its plot on solid footing, the Steven Spielberg backed production should do just as well come 2014.
