While promoting his new movie on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Ryan Reynolds addressed his fear of flying on Thursday.

The two had a surprise rendezvous on an airplane, in which Fallon witnessed Reynold's weakness.

"I'm a terrible, terrible flyer. I lose all of my incompetence on a plane. I hate it. I hate it so much," Reynold shared. "And when we got to the ground, it was so weird. I kissed you. I remember I hugged you good-bye and I kissed you on the cheek and was like, 'I'm just never going to see him again.' And I think I was just happy to be alive."

The 36-year-old actor's fear of airplanes started when he was 19 years old, after he obtained his skydiving license.

"On my 13th [jump]... my 'chute opened and what happened is they call it, "A bag of garbage," the Turbo star recalled. "It was sort of flapping in the wind, not really slowing me down at all, just making me spin out of control and almost unconscious."

In a brink of time, Reynolds saved himself by remembering to open the reserve shoot.

"I thankfully came to my senses, pulled the reserve shoot," he said. "I landed like seven or eight miles away from the actual drop zone and I was sure I was going to land in power lines or something."

After previewing a clip to Reynolds' new action movie, R.I.P.D. , Blake Lively's husband agreed to play "Water War" with the 38-year-old comedian. Seconds into the game, Reynold's grey suit was drenched with water shot out by Fallon.

R.I.P.D , starring Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and Mary-Louise Parker, hits theaters July 31.
