Penelope Cruz gave birth to a baby girl on Monday, the same day that Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton gave birth to a baby boy.

On Monday evening, Cruz was admitted to Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid, according to Hello! magazine. The name of her child hasn't been revealed yet.

On July 20, the Spanish actress was spotted at the Los Veranos de la Villa Music Festival in Madrid. Wearing a one-shoulder tight white shirt, skinny jeans and wedged sandals, the 39-year-old Nine star looked ready to pop.

Cruz celebrated one of her last night's before giving birth with her husband of three years, Javier Bardem, as well as with her mother Encarna, and Bardem's mother Pilar and brother Carlos.

The child is Cruz's second. She and Bardem, who have been married since July 2010, also have a two-year-old son Leo Encinas Cruz. He was born in LA in 2011 at the famous Cedars Sinai Hospital.

"[Pregnancy is] a revolutionary experience. That's the best way I can describe it," she told Vogue in 2011. "Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment -- when you see that face, you are transformed forever."

Since privacy is very important to Cruz, she most likely will not be flaunting her daughter around in public.

"I want my son and my kids - if I have more - to grow up in a way that is as anonymous as possible," she said. "The fact that his father and I have chosen to do the work we do doesn't give anybody the right to invade our privacy."

Cruz and Bardem will both star in The Counselor, which hits theaters November 2013 and also features Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Cameron Diaz.
