Christina Aguilera is getting ready for her return to season 5 of The Voice.

On Saturday, the 32-year-old attended a press event for the upcoming season and flaunted her shape in a curve-hugging short pink dress. She also kept her makeup to a minimum giving her a subtle and natural look. The singer was joined by two of the other coaches, Adam Levine and CeeLo Green. Blake Shelton wasn't in attendance because he was performing at the Klipsch Music Center in Indiana.

During the event, Aguilera explained what prompted her hiatus from the show.

"I'm a mom, when the cameras go off, I put on sweats and a t-shirt," she told reporters on Saturday during the NBC sessions at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in California, according to The Huffington Post. "I needed some time to do that. He starts kindergarten this fall, so I'm excited about that."

Aside from spending time with her son Max, Aguilera said she also wanted to focus on her own well-being.

"I cannot live in front of the camera 24 hours a day," she said. "I have to take breaks and stay connected with myself. I think it's important so that you can be your best on camera."

During season 4 of the singing competition, Shelton and Levine were joined by new judges Shakira and Usher. Aguilera praised Shakira, who filled in for her on the show, as well as Green's substitute, Usher.

"Thank god for Shakira, she did a beautiful job, she has sweet, lovely energy. And Usher came and stepped up with a lot of creative stuff," she said.

Still, the star said she's excited for her return and referred to her relationship with her co-stars as "family."

"The four of us, it's so much fun to have a laugh with these guys, we just have a good time," she said.

The new season of The Voice premieres on Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. ET with host Carson Daly.
