Hilary Duff is setting the record straight about the potential "Lizzie McGuire" reboot.

For three years, Duff captured youngsters' hearts when she starred in the hit series "Lizzie McGuire." She was first tapped to audition in 2000 and successfully scored the role Terri Minsky created.

Nearly two decades since the last episode aired, Duff spoke up about its potential reboot and shared the real reason why she never loved talking about it.

In The Cut's "In Her Shoes" podcast, the 34-year-old actress shared her thoughts about the planned reboot of the series, which was originally scheduled to arrive on Disney+. According to Duff, she does not like to discuss the revival as it always causes the internet to explode.

Still, she chose to face the internet's excitement this time and hinted that there is always a possibility for a reboot.

"I think there's always a possibility there. And even if she's 40, I don't think people care. It's always going to be somewhat interesting to people to see where she ended up," she said.

Fans have been waiting for a new installment after "Lizzie McGuire" ended its stint after two seasons. It managed to release "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" in 2003, but fans wanted more.

In 2019, reports about the series' spinoffs emerged, one included Duff and the original cast. But shortly after the confirmation, the actress revealed it was not being pushed through.

Although her character should be focusing on finding a man, she reminded the viewers that she put female friendships front in the series since it has a lot of room to explore the friendships.

For now, fans can spend their time supporting her current projects while waiting for the highly anticipated "Lizzie McGuire" reboot.
