There's talk of a new cast member to the "Dune" film universe. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Florence Pugh is rumored to be in talks to join the cast of Denis Villanueve's "Dune: Part 2." Pugh would be the first newcomer to sign on to the now Oscar-nominated science fiction franchise that boasts a star-studded cast that includes Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, and Javier Bardem, among others.

Allegedly, Pugh is being asked to play Princess Irulan, the daughter of Emperor Shaddam IV. The Emperor is the ruler who sent the Atreides family to Arrakis, kickstarting the events of the first movie. His part is also set to be cast.

While joining the "Dune" cast would be huge, it's not a given that Pugh will ultimately sign on. The actress is still in the running for the Madonna biopic, whose shoot might create scheduling conflicts with that of the sci-fi blockbuster. We're still early in the development of the "Dune" sequel, and so there are also rumors saying that Pugh may be waiting to review the latest version of the script before making any major decisions.

Additionally, part of the first "Dune" movie was shot in Hungary, which is close to Ukraine, the site of a war commonly called the biggest conflict Europe has seen since the World Wars. It's unclear whether the production of "Dune: Part 2" would be influenced by the conflict. Regardless, we're excited to see whether the talented Pugh ends up taking up the role for "Dune: Part 2."
