Bridgerton season two premiered today, and we are all Regency-Era kinds of ready!

The hit period piece romance was a phenom when it first arrived on Netflix, and fans are confident that season two will continue to do the same. This season, the focus shifts onto Anthony Bridgerton, played by Jonathan Bailey, and the incredible new addition to the ton Kate Sharma, played by Simone Ashley.

The show is successful because of it's incredible acting, it's sensational writing, and (let's be real) it's OVERT salaciousness.

It is true. Bridgerton instantly got a name for itself as one of the HOTTEST new shows (literally) on TV last year. The creation of romantic tension and the intimate scenes - which, ironically, defentiely would not have flown in the Regency Era - have people hearing "sex" the second they think of Bridgerton.

However, it's far more complex than that.

Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma share a meaningful moment in dance.

Intimacy alone does not make something epic. Yes, the show inspires a definitive intrigue, but the decisions about where to put these moments, cloaked in the excellent writing of the story are what make this show a phenom. In an interview that Deadline held with the creator of Bridgerton, Chris Van Dusen, he spoke about the heightened creation of these powerfully compelling moments.

"Our approach to sex on the show remains the same: We don't do sex scenes for the sake of doing sex scenes. We never will. They all serve a purpose narratively, they all push a story forward. The sex scenes of season two are just as steamy and just as likely to leave viewers hot and bothered and breathless as the ones in season one."

A sex scene for the sake of a sex scene would not inspire the same obsessive facination people hold for the series. These specifically chosen moments evoke the perfect levels of both storytelling and scadal. They bolster this with the strong bond among the cast.

The cast not only acts well together. They genuinely like each other. This familial love can be felt through the screen. Earlier today, Pheobe Dynevor, who led the series's first season as Daphne Bridgerton, posted an adorable behind the scenes photo of the entire family. We love to know that they love each other both on and off the screen!

We can't wait to watch all of Bridgerton season two on Netflix.
