Will Smith reportedly hand-slapped Chris Rock on stage during the 2022 Oscars, which were broadcast live to millions across the world.

He then began yelling at the comic twice before accepting his first Academy Award for Best Actor 30 minutes later, following the upsetting episode.

According to The New York Post, he may be requested to return his Best Actor award following the onstage attack.

In its code of conduct, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences establishes severe restrictions. "It's an attack," says one well-placed Hollywood insider.

"Everyone in the room was stunned. It was quite unpleasant."

According to the source, if Will Smith was requested to return his Oscar, he would refuse.

Fans are upset and demanding that the "Fresh Prince" actor return his gong after breaking the Code of Conduct, which was developed in the aftermath of the MeToo movement, highlighting the significance of "upholding the Academy's principles" and "respect for human decency" in 2017.

"But we are not normalizing assault in 2022," one person stated on Twitter. "There is no specific treatment. Remove him #Oscars."

"Imagine if that had been ANYONE except Will Smith," one person commented.

Will Smith currently has not been sanctioned.

What Happened On Stage Between Will Smith And Chris Rock?

A presenter, Chris Rock, remarked on stage that he couldn't wait to see Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, in "GI Jane 2," remarking on her bald head.

But the "Men in Black" star became upset and stormed onto the stage, punching the comic in the face.

As he returned, Will yelled at Chris, "Keep my wife's name out of your f--ing mouth!"

However, it's possible that the "Red Table Talk" host's public disclosure of her issues with alopecia, which causes hair loss, sparked his severe physical and verbal reaction.

Thirty minutes later, Will Smith returns to the stage to win his first Oscar for his part in "King Richard," a life story about tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams' father.

In his remarks, he also apologized to the Academy, his fellow candidates, and the broader public. Will Smith, on the other hand, did not apologize to Chris Rock.

Will was spotted grinning and posing for photographs after the event, but Judd Apatow and other celebs couldn't help but express their displeasure with him.

"He might have murdered him," Judd stated in a now-deleted post. That is uncontrollable fury and violence."

"In the previous three decades, they've heard a million jokes about them." They are hardly newcomers to the worlds of Hollywood and comedy. He'd gone insane."
