Walker Scobell, who played the role of the younger version of Ryan Reynolds' Adam in "The Adam Project," will star as Percy Jackson in Disney+ series, "A Rising Star."

Following the success of "The Adam Project," Walker Scobell has been tapped to lead the new "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" series on Disney+.

Author Rick Riordan confirmed the casting on his website on Monday. According to the award-winning author, he was touched by the young actor's acting skills ever since he auditioned for the role of Percy Jackson.

"Walker Scobell is an incredibly talented young man who blew us away with his audition tapes for the role of Percy. Many of you recently discovered how great Walker is when you watched his movie The Adam Project, in which Walker lit up the screen as a younger version of Ryan Reynolds' character," he wrote.

Riordan revealed that the 13-year-old "The Adam Project" star auditioned months before the Netflix flick came out. However, Scobell reportedly proved his skills even more and confirmed what Riordan thought about him.

In the same post, the author took his time to describe Scobell as the perfect mix of comedic timing, heroism, sweetness, and rebelliousness, just like Percy Jackson.

Riordan noted in the same post that he had known about the casting news since January. The author himself let Scobell know that he scored the role through Zoom.

"Since then, we've gotten to see Walker do numerous chemistry reads with candidates for our other two leads, Annabeth and Grover, and while I'm confident those two roles are getting very close to being finalized and announced, I felt like the time was right to let you meet our Percy!" Riordan went on.

He called Scobell a rising star, assuring the young actor that he would be there cheering him in his career.

The news came months after Riordan said that the series had been greenlit for a TV adaptation at Disney+. "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" will follow the story of a 12-year-old demigod, Percy Jackson, who is accused of stealing Zeus' lightning bolt.

The character then starts his journey to find the bolt and prove his innocence to Zeus to save the Olympus.
