Recently, actress Megan Fox gave an unfiltered interview with British Glamour, where she spoke about her boyfriend Machine Gun Kelly, how she called out abuse in Hollywood way before the #MeToo movement, and how she didn't feel welcomed by feminists. However, despite starring in big movies, such as the "Transformers" franchise, and cult favorites, like "Jennifer's Body," Fox has rarely been making headlines due to her acting work as of late.

Instead, Fox has been back in the public spotlight mostly due to her high profile relationship with Machine Gun Kelly and for her bitterness towards how she was ridiculed and not accepted by many who purported themselves to be feminists. In her interview, Megan said that she "wasn't allowed to be a human because [she] was a topic of conversation and gossip and punchlines."

This made me think: One way for the current culture to apologize to Megan Fox for not seeing her as the intelligent, full-bodied woman that she has been this entire time is to take her seriously - not only as a human, but even as an actress. However, Fox's longtime typecasting as a pin-up sex symbol, is going to make it tough for people unfamiliar with her capabilities to see her in any other role.

Here are some types of roles Hollywood can challenge Fox with if she wants to be taken seriously as an actress.

5 Types of Roles Megan Fox Should Take

1. Sitcom Protagonist

In seasons five and six of the sitcom "New Girl," Megan Fox took on the role of Reagan Lucas, a bisexual pharmaceutical saleswoman who becomes a new roommate to the main cast after Zooey Deschanel went on maternity leave. Lucas was one of the more prominent TV roles that Fox took and she left quite an impression on "New Girl" viewers. Her stint on the show made us wonder whether Fox may be better served on a sitcom, where viewers will have more time to get to know her character's inner life beyond her attractive exterior.

2. Historical Temptress

Now hear me out. I know I just said that we wanted to give Fox a chance to prove herself beyond her looks. However, I feel that history has plenty of gorgeous women who had scheme to get to the top since society wasn't open enough to let them achieve financial autonomy under more socially acceptable circumstances. Whether that means that Fox would play an Anne Boleyn-type, who must seduce her way to the top, or a Scarlet O'Hara-type, who uses her intellect and flexible morals to get to the top, I believe she would do well as either!

3. Struggling Young Mother

From her Glamour interview, it's clear that Megan Fox cherishes her children, with the actress being very protective of her kids' exposure both to and on social media. I believe Megan Fox could tone down her makeup and channel that energy into portraying a struggling young mother. Her role could be more like Brie Larson's mother character in "Room" to the more strident single mother in Julia Roberts' "Erin Brockovich."

4. Hot-blooded Entrepreneur

Speaking of strident characters, I can also see Megan Fox taking on a hot-blooded entrepreneur-type role. While I hesitate to use the term "girlboss," this type of character would fit Fox's outspoken nature and the out of the box thinking we're now used to from her interviews. Remember, Fox and Machine Gun Kelly "consume each other's blood on occasion for ritual purposes only." Casting Fox in an empowered role like an entrepreneur would also help audiences see her in a new light as someone who is respected for her abilities and not just her looks.

5. Atypical Feminist

As the ultimate get-back to her critics, Megan Fox could also take a role where she plays a feminist icon. By accepting such a role, Fox would be figuratively taking back her place in the feminist pantheon. A dramatization of Simone de Beauvoir, Marlene Dietrich, or Gloria Steinem's life would serve Fox well. Being able to embody someone who was able to make a difference against the gendered oppression of their time would be huge for Fox and help give her the agency she sought all those years ago when she first spoke of her abusive experiences in Hollywood.
