Johnny Depp and Amber Heard entered a new showdown as their careers are now facing new issues after the defamation trial.

The jury will soon name the person who triumphantly got its favor after the six-week legal battle. Some expect that Depp has an edge in the trial, as the actor already won regardless of the outcome due to his successful attempt to clear his name.

Meanwhile, Heard is said to have sustained severe drawbacks that could affect her dwindling career.

But Hollywood experts recently weighed in and explained how the trial put both Depp and Heard's careers in jeopardy.

Johnny Depp, Amber Heard's Careers Will Suffer

Several experts shared their opinions with CNN, explaining how the legal case also brought a negative side to their standings in Hollywood.

One said that the trial did nothing but help Depp's public image. Meanwhile, another highlighted that the ex-couple destroyed each other as they became "highly dysfunctional' when they allowed money and greed to take over their minds.

This resonated with what Entertainment agent Darryl Marshak disclosed, predicting that no franchise would love to be involved with the two stars.

"Robert Downey Jr. won an Academy Award and then aired his personal business out in the world and people kind of recoiled. I think Hollywood is a strange place. When you air your dirty laundry in front of the machine, the executives, all the people that make the parts move, they sort of recoil from a hot flame," he said.

For instance, Depp already lost his "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Fantastic Beasts" roles after Heard allegedly defamed him through the op-ed. He only scored two independent films, "Waiting for the Barbarians" and "Minamata."

As for Heard's part, Marshak said she is yet to taste the aftereffect of the trial as she would still appear in the sequel of "Aquaman."

Johnny Depp Still Has Hope

Despite not scoring back his franchises, Marshak believes that Depp can rise again and return to movie screens.

"Hollywood is also forgiving and as it moves forward and this thing stops airing and Johnny is able to move fluidly back into the business. I think he'll reemerge again. Hollywood is a fickle place," he continued.

Still, studios would be more cautious due to insurance reasons and potential public backlash.

But it's worse for Heard, though, as a director told the same news outlet that the defamation trial did not help her image. It would be riskier for her, as well, as her career was less established than Depp's.
