The Sandlot actor Thomas Guiry reportedly head-butted a police officer after he was told he was too intoxicated to board a flight at Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston last weekend, CNN reported today.

Houston Police spokesman John Cannon reportedly said the 31-year-old faces a felony charge of assault against a public servant.

When the actor was told he wasn't allowed to board, but could go to the sobering center if he cooperated, Cannon reportedly said the actor got angry and threatened the police many times.

United Airlines employees refused to let Guiry board the plane Saturday because he was too drunk and then called the police, Cannon said.

The airline's employees wanted a police supervisor to decide if the actor should be sent to a sobering center instead of being sent to jail for public intoxication. The actor reportedly started to make threats and the officer told the actor he was under arrest, he said. As the officer was trying to restrain him, Guiry allegedly tried to head-butt sergeant in the face.

The actor made his acting debut in The Sandlot when he was 11. He also had the lead role in the 1994 remake of Lassie. More recently the actor was in an episode of Elementary.
