Earlier in December, TikTok released its year-end review of the trends, creators, songs and moments that stood out on the social media platform throughout 2023.

Per TikTok's head of operations, Adam Presser, the platform's "Year on TikTok 2023" review is their way to express their gratitude to the users and creators for "another year of bringing joy" to the TikTok community.

In terms of the most popular videos on TikTok in the United States, 10 made it to the list reigned by a "simple and stunning makeup routine."

1. Nyadollie's makeup video

Nyadollie, who goes by the TikTok username @dollievision amassed over 506 million views for her makeup routine video posted last March. 

The beauty creator often posts makeup and "get ready with me" (GRWM) videos on her account, with a huge following of 2.8 million TikTok users.

2. Justin Flom's DIY video

Justin Flom (@justinflom)'s "How to fix a broken light" video is the second most popular TikTok video in 2023, garnering over 418.9 million views on the platform.

In his DIY video, he transformed and replaced their broken ceiling light with an extravagant new one that resembles Iron Man.

3. Chas' video of her huge cat

Chas, who goes by the username @through.the.lleaves on TikTok, gained over 394.1 million views for a single post after showing off her extremely huge 9-month-old kitten, a Maine Coon -- one of the largest domesticated cats.

Aside from her Maine Coon, Chas posts about her other pets, including a tortoise, a lizard, a Dutch shepherd dog and her other cats.

4. Selena Gomez's pre-flight routine

In February, American singer-actress Selena Gomez shared a video of her early morning pre-flight routine, and it went viral as many found it relatable. 

With over 229.3 million TikTok views, the singer's video is the platform's fourth most popular video for 2023.

5. Chrish Guerra's parking lot singing video

Because of his exceptional vocals, Chrish (@chrishoffish) went viral on TikTok in May for a video of him singing the melody of "Heaven" by DJ Sammy at a parking lot.

His video amassed over 206.2 million views on the platform, with many praising his "insane" vocal control. 

6. Zach Choi's cooking ASMR video

Zach Choi's ASMR video of cooking fried chicken with a coating of potato chips is the sixth most popular video in 2023, per TikTok's year-end review.

As of press time, his viral ASMR cooking video significantly increased to over 554.9 million views from around 200 million views.

7. A video of a whining French bulldog

TikTok creator Kathy (@kaaaathhhhy) posted a video of her French bulldog in April with the text, "POV: Your Frenchie doesn't want to go to sleep,"

Because many found her pet's "convincing argument" adorable, the video gained over 213.7 million TikTok videos.

8. Kristy Sarah's onion-cutting hack

In TikTok creator Kristy Sarah's most viral video, she shared a hack to prevent herself from crying while cutting onions -- using a glass pot lid as a face shield, which is put in place by a hoodie.

Her clever hack gained over 173.6 million TikTok views. Her husband's reaction in the background made the video even more hilarious.

9. Tubby Nugget's encouraging video

The wholesome animation TikTok account @tubbynugget went viral for a sweet and encouraging video message posted on Valentine's Day.

With its heartwarming and reassuring message saying, "Everything's gonna be okay because I love you... Today might not be your best day, but I still love you," the video gained over 101.6 million TikTok views.

10. Brett Wulc's pottery fails and bloopers

Brett Wulc's (@bwpottery) video might be about a month's worth of pottery fails and bloopers, but the engagement and views it got were a total win -- over 184.8 million views.

The on-point background music also added to the vibe of his compilation video, contributing to its virality.
