Target has experienced melee at some of their stores on the morning of Dec. 31 due to the release of their exclusive Stanley Cup collection with colorways celebrating an early Galentine's Day 2024.

The highly sought after Stanley 1913 cup has gone from functional to famous with demand skyrocketing in recent months leading up to New Year's Eve. From Cosmo pink to Target red, the collection included stacking pints, tumbler 2-packs, and Quenchers.

Phone recordings reportedly captured customers racing and trampling to purchase the cup. Signs placed on shelves requested patrons to keep a limit of two per customer. Despite the limitation, shelves were left bare, selling out in less than four minutes.

A similar situation followed with the Jan. 3 release of a limited edition Stanley x Starbucks Cup collaboration. Shoppers lined up in the rain — some equipped with tents and blankets — to grab their "Winter Pink" Quenchers. ABC Action News Crew found the person waiting outside the longest, who lined up at 10 p.m. Tuesday to get his hands on the tumbler.

Customer Michael Herrera weighed in. "I got to get the Stanley Cup, you know, once you start getting one, you got to collect them all."

A viral TikTok live from user RayahSunshine showed a man jumping over the counter at Target's Starbucks seemingly stealing an entire box of Stanley cups. The suspect was captured on video attacking customers and brawling with security.

Starbucks announced it will not be restocking the popular cup, saying in part, "We are seeing an enthusiastic response to the Starbucks x Stanley Quencher, and many stores have sold out. It will not be restocked." Resale value has increased since, with sites like eBay and StockX showing resale prices up to $350.

Stanley enthusiasts are already grabbing the latest release as the Stanley Quencher H2.0 FlowState Tumbler in Arctic Twist Quencher cup went on sale today. In minutes, the tumbler sold out.

In 2023, Stanley 1913 sales surpassed a whopping $750 million and is expected to increase by the end of 2024.
