Tim Lawler, the chief executive of SportsAid, who has been alongside Kate during various engagements over the past ten years, noted that she has referenced advice she imparts to others as part of her mental health advocacy efforts.

Kate Middleton exhibited remarkable resilience in her recent video address disclosing her cancer diagnosis, a trait that didn't surprise those familiar with her. As someone deeply committed to mental wellness, she's spent years advocating for it since marrying Prince William in 2011. Engaging in outdoor activities and promoting sports has been central to her approach in this regard.

Tim Lawler, the CEO of SportsAid, has had numerous opportunities to accompany Princess Kate and Prince William on various engagements over the past decade. Notably, during last October's World Mental Health Day, they participated in a mental fitness event organized by SportsAid. Lawler highlighted Kate's emphasis on being in a positive state spiritually, emotionally, and physically, as expressed in her cancer announcement.

"That is often the advice I have heard her talk about when she's met young people and families," he said to PEOPLE. "Maybe there's something in that which gives her the confidence to meet this head-on."

Most people "don't consciously know how they dealt with something like this until someone around them asked them to think about it in a deliberate way. Those experiences all go into that resilience recipe to help you progress," Lawler states.

"In times like this, forward is forward - it doesn't matter how fast," he adds. "She mentioned time quite a lot - time to reflect, time to speak to the children and the family. As long as you can move forward in some form, then that shows resilience rather than feeling like you are going backward. I feel that would be the message she would use for others in that situation."
