The descriptions for the final three episodes of Dexter were released by Showtime on Friday.

Episode 10, titled Goodbye Miami, will feature Dexter (Michael C. Hall) and Dr. Vogel (Charlotte Rampling) working together to get the "Brain Surgeon" serial killer in their grasp. This means that the man Dexter and others assumed was the "Brain Surgeon", A.J. Yates (Aaron McCusker), is not the real murderer. Dexter executed Yates in episode 5, because he suspected he was the real serial killer.

Another critical moment in episode 10 will feature the murder of a person who is very important to Dexter, and the killing will happen in his presence. Dexter has many important people in his life, including Dr. Vogel, Deb (Jennifer Carpenter), Harrison (Jadon Wells) and Angel Batista (David Zayas).

Dexter Season 8 Spoilers: Series Finale Will Be 'Hated' by Some & Episode 8 & 9 Preview

Fans can rest assured that at least one of those characters will make it out of episode 10 alive. The synopsis for episode 11, titled Monkey in a Box, says that Dexter has an option to flee the country with Harrison and Hannah (Yvonne Strahovski). Another option for Dexter is to take out Saxon (Darri Ingolfsson).

This is an intriguing detail since Saxon has not been a threat to Dexter thus far in the season. This may suggest that Saxon is the real "Brain Surgeon," considering the language in the description, which says Dexter plans on "taking out Saxon once and for all."

Dexter Season 8 Spoilers: Series Finale to be a 'Fitting Ending'

Episode 12, titled Remember the Monsters?, is the series finale. The show's last episode will find Dexter "facing impossible odds." There will be a hurricane that touches down in Miami, and Dexter will become intent on "ending things" on his own terms.

It seems like Dexter will be facing some of the biggest challenges of his life towards the end of the season.

Dexter's Are We There Yet? episode will air on Sunday, Aug. 18 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
