Lee Thompson Young reportedly suffered from depression before he committed suicide and was found dead on Aug. 19 at the age of 29, according to a new report.

The actor, however, didn't drink or party to deal with his alleged depression.

"He was the opposite," a source told E! Online. "Lee loved to travel and was always the first to tell everyone to take a breath and enjoy the beauty of life."

The source described Young as being "gentle and unassuming," and never self-centered. Some close to the former Disney star also told the entertainment website that they noticed a change in the actor after he began practicing Yoruba, an African-based religion.

When Young didn't show up for work on the set of TNT's Rizzoli & Isles early morning on Aug. 19, concerned staffers called his Los Angeles home to check on him. When the notified landlord opened the door to Young's apartment he found the actor's body, according to TMZ. The website also reported that the actor committed suicide by shooting himself.

"It is with great sadness that I announce that Lee Thompson Young tragically took his own life this morning," his publicist said at the time of death. "Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed."
