Kendrick Lamar Talks About His Control Verse

The Compton native hopped on stage to perform his verse from Thicke's Give It 2 U, along with 2 Chainz, at the award show in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Sunday. Before Lamar's appearance, Cyrus rubbed a large foam finger all over Thicke. When asked what he would do if Cyrus approached him with her foam finger, he replied that he "wouldn't have known how to react."

During his appearance on the Chelsea Lately show, Lamar also spoke about the controversy stirred from his verse on Big Sean's track Control.

"A lot of the cats that I named they are actually good friends of mine," he told Handler. "I basically wanted to show that I'm competitive."

Wale Responds To Kendrick Lamar's Control Verse

On the song, the Compton native called out several hip-hop artists, including J. Cole, Wale, Pusha T, Meek Millz, Big KRIT, Drake, Tyler the Creator and Mac Miller. Lamar even added Big Sean and Jay Electronica to the list.

"I'm trying to make sure your core fans never heard of you," he rapped about them. "They don't want to hear not one more noun or verb from you."

Several rappers who weren't even featured on the song recorded responses to Lamar. However, the Compton native believes that these rappers didn't understand his intention.

"A lot of people think it's about talent. That's why they get it wrong. I'm saying that I'm the most hungry in this."
