At the end of True Blood's Season 6 finale, Sookie (Anna Paquin) seemed to have finally found her place in the arms of hunky wolf Alcide (Joe Manganiello), but the sultry romance might be short lived.

Manganiello dished about the upcoming final season, admitting, he's excited to see what's in store for their characters.

"It's about time they got together," the hunky actor told EnStars at the McDonald's New Mighty Wings launch party in NYC Sunday night. "I'd like to see them end up together, but that is the writer's job. I'm sure they'll come up with something awesome."

When asked if Sookie's former on-again, off-again love vampire Bill (Stephen Moyer) would interfere, Manganiello laughed.

"You never know," he teased about the Sookie, Alcide, Bill triangle.

Showrunner Brian Buckner talked to TV Guide about next summer's Season 7 storylines, and teased a few details about how Sookie's tumultuous history will affect her new romance.

"Whether or not there will be flashbacks, we don't know at this point ... It's not like we're going to skip over all the Sookie-Alcide fun. In terms of going back and filling in those six months, that I don't think we'll be doing, but the audience will see what they want to see," Buckner said.  "Bill has truthfully seen the error of his ways... and all of his feelings for Sookie came rushing back. The real question is, yes, this season is about redemption for Bill, but can he be forgiven? We're establishing a new triangle -- the Sookie, Alcide, Bill triangle is going to be in play."

Earlier this month, HBO announced that True Blood would end after season 7, which was bittersweet news for Manganiello.

"It's sad. It'll be sad to say goodbye to everybody and really sad to say goodbye to my character. I really, really love Alcide," Manganiello told EnStars. "On the other hand, I'm really excited to get out there and do some other projects."
