Bates Motel star Vera Farmiga opened up about season 2 and teased a possible alternate ending to the series.

Farmiga, who plays Norma Bates on the series, told TVLine at the Emmys Sunday night that she was getting along well with new co-star Michael Vartan.

"I don't know how much I can tell you about what Michael [Vartan] is to . . . Norma Bates," Farmiga said, coyly. Enstars previously reported that Vartan will play George, a recently divorced man who Norma comes into contact with and eventually falls in love with.

The relationship may not work well or last long, based on Farmiga's other comments.

"There's a certain amount of enlightenment - if she achieves - she probably wouldn't end up in the basement," Farmiga quipped, referring to the events of Psycho, the 1960 movie on which the series is based. Farmiga's comments suggest that Norma may not reach a level of happiness for very long.

When asked if the series may veer away from the ending seen in Psycho, Farmiga suggested that the writers might do so if they wish.

In other Bates Motel spoiler news, several photos were taken on the set of the series while filming took place on Friday. Freddie Highmore - who plays Norman Bates on the show - is seen in a tree holding onto a rope with a treehouse nearby. As for what this means, there has not been any indication, but the photos suggest that it will be an action sequence. See the photos here.

Season 2 of Bates Motel will premiere in 2014, though a specific air date has not yet been decided.
