While the Samsung's new smartphone Galaxy Note 3 is getting very good reviews, it seems like The Gear, a smartwatch that comes with it, doesn't quite match up.

Other than the large screen that are the main draw for Samsung smartphone users, the Galaxy Note 3 is also being appreciated for its new design, -- as being aesthetically advanced and also offering a better grip -- its USB 3 connector and a 1080p full HD panel enhancing the movie-viewing experience.

Here are some of the gleaming reviews the phone has gotten so far:

Mashable wholly endorses the upgrade in its detailed review of the Galaxy Note 3.

"The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is the best Samsung phone I've ever used. It's big, it's powerful and it finally turns the S Pen - the small stylus that goes hand-in-hand with the Galaxy Note line - into something useful. It's even better than the Galaxy S4," the website's critic, Pete Pachal, wrote.

"To love the Galaxy Note 3, though, you need to get over it's plus-size screen. That's not too tall an order these days, as most notable phones these days have large displays. No, our hands haven't gotten bigger, but we're also more used to tablets and the advantages a bigger screen can offer.

Gizmodo:

"Samsung's Galaxy Note series has been the most popular BIG phone since it was first released a couple of years ago. The Galaxy Note 2 made some major improvements over the original in terms of speed and utility, and while the Galaxy Mega was a giant step backwards, the Galaxy Note 3 looks to leapfrog them both. And, generally, it does."

PC Magazine:

"The Galaxy Note 3 is the most powerful phablet we've tested and it's our latest Editors' Choice on T-Mobile."

Extremetech:

"All in all, the Note 3 is a seriously impressive piece of hardware."

But while the phone seems to have won critics over, the smartwatch, The Gear, accompaniment hasn't managed to impress.

Here are some reviews that weren't convinced about the need for the fancy accessory:

Wired:

"Gear, a first-generation device, doesn't quite hit the mark. It's an admirable push in mobile technology for sure, but the execution - both on the hardware and software side - isn't enough to justify the $300 price tag. And in many ways, the smartwatch ends up being more of a nuisance than a convenience."

Washington Post:

"Right now, the Gear only works with Samsung's 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 3, just the kind of huge device that makes a secondary display necessary.

"The Gear is a neat device and certainly proves that wearable technology is worth investigating, but it is decidedly first-generation. The watch is bulky, and while Samsung has made a sincere effort to make it aesthetically pleasing by offering it in a variety of colors and watch faces, it looks clunky on most wrists."

Engadget:

"The small matter of the Gear, that optional, polarizing companion watch."

The Galaxy Note 3 is available on T-Mobile from Oct. 2, Sprint and AT&T on Oct. 4, and Verizon on Oct. 10. The Note 3 costs $300 on a two-year contract with all carriers. The Galaxy Gear is being released on the same days as the smartphone. The Gear costs $300, but it will be not part of the two-year contract.
