Michael Bay was attacked by a random guy, who tried to disrupt filming and hurled an air conditioner at the director, on the sets of Transformers 4: Age of Extinction in Hong Kong on Oct. 17.

There is no word on how the man -- allegedly under the influence of drugs -- and his friends managed to get on the set, but he started stirring things up by accosting several of the crew members. One of the men was wielding an air conditioner and hurled it at the director, but Bay quickly ducked and deflected what could have been a fatal accident. The filming was taking place at Quarry Bay in Hong Kong.

A representative from Bay's office gave a statement to E! News about the occurrence, clarifying the details:

"Contrary to several erroneous news reports made today, Bay did not get hurt in a fight on set. The production company did have a bizarre encounter with a man (allegedly under the influence of a narcotic substance) who was wielding an air conditioning unit as a weapon. The man, who had earlier accosted several other crew members, rushed onto the set in Quarry Bay and swung the air conditioning unit directly at Bay's head. The director ducked and wrested the air conditioner from his attacker, preventing what could have been a serious accident."

The statement concluded by saying that the company's security team and the cops quickly stepped in and got things under control. The assailant and two of his companions were arrested. He also added that no one on the set was hurt and this did not disrupt the filming, which went on as planned.

Though Bay reportedly did sustain a few minor injuries to the right side of his face, he didn't seek medical attention. Apparently, the men were angry because they believed that the producers of the film owed them for filming in their city and were trying to seek compensation from them.

Jack Reynor is the male lead of the film and will be playing a race car driver. Peltz acts as Reynor's girlfriend in the film and Mark Wahlberg portrays Flynn Vincent, Peltz's dad. Kelsey Grammar will be playing the role of Harold Attinger, a counter-intelligence agent, who is the main antagonist in the film. 

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction is scheduled for release on June 27, 2014.
