The audition tape of 50 Cent trying out for a part in the 2007 Denzel Washington starrer American Gangster was leaked by Defamer on Oct. 22.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, hoped to play a brother of Washington's character that is a lieutenant in his drug army in the thriller. The singer's audition played out three scenes from the film and he also faked cried during the session. His performance was described by Daily Mail as "cringeworthy" and "awful" by The Huffington Post. The website that first released the footage deemed it "absolutely the worst."

Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is currently being considered a strong Oscar contender for his performance in 12 Years A Slave, ultimately got the part.

Before the respective audition the only motion picture 50 Cent starred in was Terence Winters' 2005 film Get Rich Or Die Trying, a crime drama in which he played the lead character.

Jackson's SMS Promotions company signed on junior middleweight boxer James Kirkland earlier in October. The athlete will face Glen Tapia of Pasa of Passaic, N.J., on Dec. 7 in an HBO-televised tripleheader taking place in Atlantic City.

"I had a relationship with 50 Cent before he came into the boxing business," Kirkland said news of his signing was announced on Oct. 16. "We already had a friendship when he got this [promotional] group together. He can do what no other promoters can do. He's a different type of promoter who can make things happen in and out of the ring for me. It's clear to me that I made the right decision."
