Doctor Who fans were rewarded for their patience with a brief synopsis of the upcoming 50th Anniversary Special, "The Day of the Doctor."

Taking place in two different centuries and ranging from earth to across the universe, the brief plot summary of the 75-minute episode is bringing up more questions than answers. Between a problem in London's National Gallery in 2013, a murder in Elizabethan England, and an ancient battle in the depths of space, the three iterations of the Doctor will have their work cut out for them.

As the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith) shares the screen with the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant) and the Unnumbered Doctor (John Hurt), hopefully showrunnner Steven Moffat will leave enough time to explain who exactly the Unnumbered Doctor is and how Eleven plans on resolving this confluence of Doctors.

"A big episode is not the one where you say 'it's big,'" Moffat recently told Broadcast https://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/ . "A big episode can be anything that moves the plot along. My main thing was that as much as we celebrate the past, we can change the narrative. You can't tell a story by being frightened about it."

"The Day of the Doctor" will air in worldwide simulcast on Nov. 23 via BBC affiliated stations.
