It has been reported that Jennifer Lopez could quit American Idol for its season.

The rumors come amid rumors in previous days that one of the judges would not be returning.

Lopez has not yet officially made any announcement and has not yet made her final decision on the matter, according to an E! Online report, however, it looks likely that the popular singing show and JLo are set to part ways.

The news comes just two days after Fox programming chief Kevin Reilly gave a report on a phone conference with reporters. According to Washington Post, Reilly at that time indicated that there would be "tweaks" to the show, but he refused to give any further details.

Fox Entertainment chairman Peter Rice was not in on that call and he has also not offered the media any further indication of what Reilly meant.

Reilly explained that it was not a good time to discuss anything further as the current season was still airing and it would be better to give full details once the season had finished.

Media sources generally took those hints as a clear indication that there would be a change up in the judging panel on Idol. Some sources were more descriptive in their reports, saying that Reilly's words had meant one of the judges was about to be "whacked".

Whether JLo will indeed leave the show, and whether she will jump by her own accord or whether she will be pushed is yet to be determined. However, JLo did give a possible hint that she may be leaving on the "Ellen" show yesterday.

She told Ellen: "I really do enjoy it. Now this is my second year - I don't know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies being three, but now they're getting more mobile, they're about to go into school.. So I just don't know."
