Ruben Studdard will return to next week's episode of The Biggest Loser thanks to trainer Jillian Michaels.
It was revealed during Tuesday's episode that Michaels "cheated" when she supplied her White Team with caffeine supplements to help them lose weight. Host Alison Sweeney stunned contestants when she shared the trainer's secret efforts before the weigh-in.
"Before you all step on the scale, there is something important that needs to be addressed," Sweeney told everyone. "Last week, Jillian broke the rules and gave caffeine supplements to each member of her team without doctor's permission. Because of this rules violation, Jillian has been penalized and the white team will receive a four pound disadvantage on the scale tonight."
Michaels was given a chance to make a statement on her decision to supply her team with something that would help them shed more weight quickly.
"I stand by my opinion. A caffeine supplement is significantly healthier than unlimited amounts of coffee," Michaels said. "My only regret is that my team, they're the ones suffering the consequences of my professional opinion."
In addition to the four-pound punishment, trainer Bob Harper's Blue Team was given immunity from being eliminated and the Red Team learned that Studdard will re-join them.
Following the airing of the episode on Tuesday, Michaels hinted on Twitter that she was "used" by the show's producers to ensure the return of the American Idol season 2 winner.
Studdard was eliminated in last week's episode. He weighed a whopping 462 pounds when he joined the reality show. His first weigh-in was impressive -- he lost 21 pounds his first week at the ranch. During his second week, however, his progress slowed significantly, and he lost only three pounds. When he shed only five pounds during last week's episode, it greatly contributed to his red team's loss.
