Irish actor Jamie Dornan secured the role as the sexy and sultry Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades of Grey film and talked for the first time about the role in the Nov. 22 issue Entertainment Weekly.

Dornan auditioned for the role before it was given to Charlie Hunnam. When the Sons of Anarchy star dropped out of the film in October, Dornan was given another shot in a day-long audition with Dakota Johnson, who will play his love interest Anastasia Steele.

"You know, one door closes, another opens," Dornan said of the getting the role. "When [Charlie] dropped out, I didn't instantly think, 'Oh here we go, maybe I should cancel that holiday,' but I did feel that maybe we'd revisit the idea of me."

While some fans protested Hunnam's casting in the role of Grey, Dornan said he feels confident he can effectively portray the S&M crazed male lead.

"I don't fear it," Dornan said, saying his test read with the movie's director made him comfortable moving forward. "I had a glimpse into how I felt it would be if I got the part. None of it scared me,"

Getting cast as Grey has changed Dornan's personal life as well as wife's, Amelia Warner. The couple are expected a child together, due in about two weeks.

He opened up about the paparazzi following him more now, saying, "It's happening, but not in an unmanageable way at the moment. I've been around it before and it's ugly, but I'm glad I'm 31 and not 21, and married. I feel very settled. I'm not running in and out of clubs at 5 a.m. anymore."

Fifty Shades of Grey is set to film in Vancouver.
