A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera debuted the emotional video for their ballad Say Something.

The video depicts relationship hardships between two young couples, the fear of a girl who sits sadly on her bed and also shows an older man crying for his dying wife.

In the video, Aguilera sports a black dress, high heels and wears her hair slicked back in a bun. She eventually unites with band member Chad Vaccarino and they stand next to Ian Axel, who plays the piano.

By the end of the song, Aguilera is in tears as she belts the powerful lyrics.

Aguilera, who approached the band to be a part of the song, explained her desire to work with the duo in a behind-the-scenes video released on Nov. 1.

"This song Say Something sort of is coming to me at a time when I'm feeling very inspired," she said in the clip. "I'm only taking on projects that feel good to me and represent, as always, a purpose of the here and now in my life and that's what this song, Say Something, actually does for me."

The group performed the song on The Voice along with Aguilera earlier in November. They also sang it without the 32-year-old at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Nov. 13.

The song will appear on the band's full-length album, Is There Anybody Out There?, expected on Jan. 14 on Epic Records.
