Britney Spears affirmed that her music is meant to put listeners in "good spirit" and that's exactly what her eighth studio album, Britney Jean, does.

The majority of the record is filled with feel good songs, including the lead single Work Bitch, her collaboration with rapper T.I. Tik Tik Boom and her duet with little sister Jamie Lynn Chillin' With You.

However, the new album also exposes a slight vulnerable side to Spears, one that wasn't often heard through her previous releases.

On the album's opening track, Alien, one of the world's most recognizable pop stars, sings about desolation and struggling to find her place. Spears also expresses her insecurities and jealousy within a certain relationship on the song Perfume.

"I hope that I'm paranoid, that I'm just seeing things, that I'm just insecure," Spears sings. "I want to believe it's just you and me. Sometimes I feel like there's three."

The 31-year-old previously stated that some songs on her new album were inspired by her breakup with Jason Trawick, with whom she ended a 13-month engagement in January. The upbeat track Til It's Gone, may be some sort of indication, since Spears repeats the famous phrase, "You never know what you have till it's gone."
