The creators of Hawaii Five-O will be recreating an internment camp for prisoners of war from WWII for an all-new episode.

The plot for episode 10, which will air Dec. 13, revolves around a former Japanese prisoner of war seeking revenge for a murder that took place at the internment camp he was part of in 1943. The recreated Honouliuli Internment Camp will be featured on the show.

The show's executive producer, Peter Lenkov, suggested that he was always interested in working that storyline into the show. He came across it while researching Hawaii's history even before writing the series' pilot.

Lenkov said it was also a good way to educate and inform people about Hawaii's history.

"Why not?" he said. "It's a powerful story. And honestly, it's a story most people don't know about."

The set is very realistic, with army tents, barbed-wire fences and a guard tower all built using actual miltary blueprints. Lenkov also believes that the episode will take an interesting detour from the regular crime procedure storylines, which would be appreciated by fans.

"We found that audiences are hungry for different kinds of stories - telling stories outside the box, not the same thing week after week," he said. "So being able to do this is really a luxury because we're doing well and the audience is open to it."
