In the next episode of Hawaii Five-O the team will be investigating the murder of a Pearl Harbor veteran.

A preview of the Dec. 13 episode attempts to uncover a part of America's history with a storyline that exposes details about the internment camps for Japanese war prisoners in Hawaii.

The plot for episode 10, Ho'onani Makuakane, revolves around a former Japanese prisoner of war seeking revenge for a murder that took place at the internment camp that he was part in in 1943. The recreated Honouliuli Internment Camp will be featured on the show.

The show's executive producer, Peter Lenkov, recently spoke about the episode and his interest in working on this storyline for a very long time. The producer suggested that he had always wanted to incorporate this part of Hawaii and America's history into the show. He also felt that it was important to educate audiences about the internment camps, which many of them might not be aware of.

"It's a powerful story and honestly, it's a story most people don't know about," he said.

Another clip that was revealed from the episode rewinds to the fatal day of Pearl Harbor, showing the panic stricken men at the military base as the Japanese ambushed them. The clip opens with some archival footage of the American military in Hawaii during WWII, featuring scenes wherein they are seeing hanging out on the beach and enjoying performances by traditional Hawaiin dancers.

This introduction segues into a staged sequence recreating the devastation of Dec. 7 1941. The men are shown helpless and trying to defend themselves with guns against the indomitable bombing attack. The scene cuts to present day Hawaii and a ceremony honoring survivors of the attack as well as Pearl Harbor veterans.

In other Hawaii Five-O related news, it was also revealed that Tom Berenger would be guest starring as Danny's dad in one of the upcoming episodes of season 4. Berenger will be starring alongside Melanie Griffith, who will be playing Danny's mom.

Hawaii Five-O airs Fridays at 9 p.m. ET.
