Matt Smith's time on Doctor Who officially came to an end in "The Time of the Doctor," but a newly released deleted scene can give Eleven's fans one last look at the old Time Lord.

The clip (see video below) comes from the beginning of the 2013 Christmas Special, just as the Doctor arrives at Clara's (Jenna Louise Coleman) apartment complex to help her salvage her family's holiday dinner. While Eleven continues to unnerve his companion with his holographic clothing, Clara explains that Christmas with the Oswalds is more family drama and less celebration.

Now that Smith is out of the TARDIS, however, the long-running BBC drama is now in the capable acting hands of Peter Capaldi. Viewers got their first real look at the twelfth/fourteenth iteration of the Gallifreyan in the last few seconds of "The Time of the Doctor."

"It's kind of like imagining your best mate has a completely different face and coming to terms with the fact that you look so different," Coleman said of the young companion's reaction to the Doctor's change. "He's still the doctor and he's still lived for over a thousand years and he's still got all the memories of her but he is a very different man and I think he's going to come to terms with the man that he is."

Doctor Who will return to the BBC with season 8.
