On the next episode of American Horror Story: Coven, Cordelia (Sarah Paulson) will do something drastic to protect her coven.

American Horror Story: Coven's next episode is titled Protect the Coven, and Cordelia will do just that in order to prove her worth and save what's left of the coven. New plot synopses for the next two episodes have been released, all but confirming the sacrifice she makes.

Based on the synopses, it seems that Cordelia will voluntarily blind herself again in order to get her powers of second sight back. While she will likely blind herself in the upcoming episode, it is in the next episode, titled Go to Hell, that she has a vision.

According to the synopsis for Go to Hell, Cordelia has a "nightmarish vision" that could put the coven's future in danger. She also a vision about the Axeman (Danny Huston) that leads her to confront him.

On the latest episode of American Horror Story: Coven, Cordelia was frustrated by her lack of real power within the coven, especially after taking a physical and emotional beating from her mother Fiona (Jessica Lange). It makes sense that Cordelia would want to prove herself as a valued member of the witches by blinding herself.

As co-creator Ryan Murphy notes, Cordelia will be in a bad place in the next episode.

"It gets much worse before it gets better, in typical fashion," he told Entertainment Weekly. "The next episode Sarah [Paulson] had to do one of the most upsetting things she's ever had to do on the show but it's great. She's really desperate to get that power back and what lengths will she go to do it?"
