Rookie Blue is back for its fifth season and the show recently shared exclusive photos of the set with fans.

The show did so well last summer that it was the most watched program in its time slot, in which the viewership increased 15 percent over the previous summer.

"We're delighted to 'renew the blue' for fans and continue our partnership with ABC on a fifth season, a major feat for Canadian television," Barbara Williams, senior vice-president of content for Shaw Media said at the time.

The show's Twitter account uploaded a few new pics, as the cast began filming on Monday.

"In the morning, we are back!! Season 5 filming begins," the show tweeted on Sunday.

"And that's a wrap on Day 1! Busy busy day, and more pics to come each and every day. #RookieBlue," the account added later on Monday.

Last season left off with Andy running back to Sam after he got shot and was rushed to the hospital for emergency surgery. During the ambulance ride to the hospital, Andy spoke from her heart and told Sam how she really felt about him, despite being in a relationship with Nick.

But Rookie Blue's executive producer Tassie Cameron confirmed that the character will definitely be back next season.

"He's not dead at the end of the episode, so that's good. There's much more to be said and done with Sam. No, he's not dead," Cameron said in an interview with TVline.com.
