American Horror Story might be centering around a famous serial killer in season 4, based on a clue from the most recent episode.

There was a mention of serial killer Ed Gein in the most recent episode of American Horror Story: Coven, titled Go to Hell. A tour guide for the Madame LaLaurie house compared LaLaurie to other "monsters" in history such as Gein, Jack the Ripper and Jeffrey Dahmer.

American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy previously teased that season 4 would take place in 1950, the same time period as Gein's murders. As Murphy said that there are clues for the new season in the final episodes of Coven, the Gein reference might be a significant one.

Additionally, Murphy said that star Jessica Lange will be working on her German accent for season 4. Gein was born to immigrants from Prussia, a former kingdom in Germany. It's possible that Lange could be playing the mother of Gein, Augusta Tiffany Wilhelmine Gein.

What does not align with this theory, however, is Murphy's previous comments that American Horror Story season 4 would be filmed in either New Orleans or Santa Fe. It is possible that these locations were meant to misdirect people in order to not spoil the revealing of the concept.

Season 4 will be Lange's last season on American Horror Story. FX president John Landgraf said that most of the cast of Coven would be returning for season 4.
