Bruno Mars took the big stage Sunday night for Super Bowl XLVIII halftime  performance.

The singer dressed in a gold metallic blazer, matched with a white shirt and black tie opened his highly anticipated set with the help of a group of children singing. He also showed off his drum skills before performing hit-singles, Treasure, Locked Out of Heaven and a new song.

Red Hot Chilli Peppers then joined Mars and electrified the crowd onstage shirtless singing "Give it away, give it away, give it away now!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Mars follows Beyonce's Super Bowl XLVIII 2013 performance which included a Destiny Child's reunion and the infamous power outage in the Superdome in New Orleans.

During an interview this week, Mars said he was excited to be joined by Chilli Peppers, who have sold 60 million albums since their 1984 self-titled debut album.

"I've been a fan of theirs for such a long time," Mars said.

Prior to performing, he also gave some hints on what fans can expect.

"Spectacle-wise, I don't do trapeze and all that stuff," Mars told reporters this week. "I hope to get people dancing and get people smiling. If you ever come to one of my shows, it's just us up there with our music and our instruments and I'm hoping that's enough."
